LG Gas Dryer No Heat Troubleshooting + Fix
*This video is not sponsored*
In this video I show you how I did some troubleshooting to fix a No Heat condition on my LG Gas Dryer.
Aside from the symptoms listed in the video, we also had a significantly higher gas bill the month prior to it failing to heat.
Here is the link to the Dryer Disassembly video that was helpful for me:
ua-cam.com/video/wAoGNgNaWGo/v-deo.htmlsi=1C9ydXUYyo724vee
*ALL Testing was done with the unit turned off, gas line disconnected, and exhaust duct removed.
-Shut off power and gas line if you are going to move the dryer!
-Air dry mode does not turn on the heat
To disconnect the wires from the terminals, use a needle nose plier, grab from the metal connector (NOT the wire) and pull hard. A 6 Inch needle nose pliers should be good enough.
To identify specific part numbers, search for your dryer's model name and the words "parts list".
To find your dyer model number fast, open the door and it should be near where the door seals.
Check Amazon and Ebay for parts prices.
You cannot test the coils on this type of gas valve using the continuity test. You also cannot purchase these coils if they go bad. Your best option is to buy a used gas valve on eBay because a brand new gas valve will be a couple of hundred dollars.
You have heat but clothes are taking a long time to dry?
-Clean the exhaust ducts going away from dryer
-Clean the ducts inside the dryer
-Check air leaks on the door seals - turn off lights and shine light through door to see if light leaks into the drum
-Clean humidity sensor near the door where the screen filter is located.
I don't think you can find the OEM high limit thermostat with the manual reset button on it. I searched for the part number and found they only sell it with the auto reset feature, which is fine.

How To Replace Wicks on Bath & Body 3 Wick Candles

How To Easily Remove Wax From A Candle Jar

    More pressure without draining the oil filter housing….torquing an oil plug…😂🤣 stupid stupid stupid 🤣. You drain it to save a mess. Been a tech for 26 years…. Never have I ever torqued an oil plug…. Don’t do your own oil change if you don’t know how tight to get a plug by hand. I’ve seen so many cars towed in when people screw up oil plugs and filters.

    • @ChavezDIY
      @ChavezDIY 2 дні тому

      A 26 year tech whining about a little extra pressure and a little extra oil, haha. A Toyota dealer Master Service Tech disagrees with you and says it's a waste of time to drain that little plug and said nobody drained the plug at his dealership. I made it look messy in the video because it was my first time doing it this way and I pulled off the filter housing immediately. But if you let the oil drain out for a minute it's less messy. It's my go to method now.

    • @squashy1982
      @squashy1982 2 дні тому

      I was just making fun of your method, I don’t disagree it’s not necessary to drain the filter housing. It does prevent a mess and replaces the o ring… I have seen a few leaking. You said there was less pressure when you broke the housing loose😂 that’s a stupid comment, and torquing a plug…. Bet the master tech doesn’t do that either. Actually a master tech probably isn’t changing much oil either, they can’t make money doing that. Dealerships have some first year kid doing oil changes. I don’t understand Toyota owners, they are “holier than thou” and regard the dealerships as the lord and savior. After what we see in our private shops what the dealerships do you wouldn’t go back. They are thieves and lazy technicians.

    Great Video! Question- Do you know the size of the bolt that fastens the key hole part? My bolt is stripped so trying to see if I can find a new screw to replace it.

    • @ChavezDIY
      @ChavezDIY 2 дні тому

      I don't know the size of that bolt. You might have to go to the parts department at your local Toyota dealer and show them the picture of the bolt. Have you tried inserting a flathead screwdriver to remove the bolt? If you are able to remove it, take it to Home Depot and ask them to find you a similar bolt.

    As a previous Traeger+ user, I must say switching to Asmoke has been a game changer. The ease of use with the digital controller for precise temperature control is a real winner - it's so much less hassle than constantly adjusting vents on a charcoal grill. Plus, it's portable! I love that I can take it on road trips and camping, not to mention tailgating! The variety of flavors available with the wood pellets is a huge bonus. The smoky hickory flavor has been a hit at every BBQ. And the best part? It's eco-friendly. The fact that the pellets are made from recycled wood materials is a big plus in my book. Also, the Asmoke app makes grilling so much easier, with its temperature monitoring and recipe sharing features. Definitely made for a more enjoyable and efficient grilling experience. Highly recommend! #Asmoke.

    Your instructions are clear and concise, congratulations, not easy to do! Based on your video I guess its not a good idea to remove the front panel with the unit installed in the window? The reason I ask is that the evaporator fins needed cleaning before the unit was reinstalled in a cat shelter but I don't want to have to remove the unit from the window before taking its front panel off. Thanks!

    • @ChavezDIY
      @ChavezDIY 7 днів тому

      So you want to clean the evaporator coils without removing the front panel? I tried doing this last year. It's possible. I put a bath towel under the front panel to catch the water and disconnected the AC from the power outlet. I used the Frost King Coil Cleaner spray listed in the video description to clean the coil. I removed the washable screen filter from the front panel. That will allow you to see the evaporator coil. I used the straw on the spray and pressed the straw on the coil, then held the straw while I sprayed the foam. It will push out dirt from the coils. I repeated the same thing in multiple areas. Then I used water in a spray bottle to clean off the coils as much as I could.

    if the drain plug washer is made of metal, actually it won't degrade and there is no need to change it. And you forgot to put some oil on the gasket first before screwing them back

    • @ChavezDIY
      @ChavezDIY 7 днів тому

      The plug washers are made of a soft metal that crushes a bit and creates a seal when you torque them down. That's why they're also known as crush washers. They get deformed a bit, that's why It's recommended to use a new one. I have reused a washer once without a problem but I don't know how many times one washer can be reused. Regarding the gasket, I did oil it, but I forgot to record myself oiling it so I just added that tip at the end of the video. Videos don't always go as planned, haha.

      I no longer drain the bottom plug and the small O ring goes on the bottom plug. I just store the small O rings, but I don't think I'll ever have a need for them.
